Hi, thanks for reading!

I’m a historian, based in Sheffield, writing about early childhood and its intersections with neoliberalism, the state and the family. I wrote a book about the history of Save the Children, and around the time it was being finished and published, I had my own two children. Arriving in pandemic parenthood as a historian of childhood was fascinating - this is a space that I’m using to collect my thoughts on how the past has shaped the present (shocking) state of child and infant care in the UK, and what the left needs to do if it’s going to present a radical response to our current dilemma. I’m thinking more about the current crisis of care and the left response with the Alameda Institute, too.
